KMC Bloomington, founded just one year ago , is a member of the New Kadampa Tradition , an international network of Kadampa Buddhist Centers in 40 different countries. KMC Bloomington was founded by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, the founder of the NKT and the author of 23 highly acclaimed books. His books clearly explain the full scope of the Buddhist path offering many different levels of access to these ancient teachings that are meant to bring about the experience of inner peace in our mind and in this world. They are presented in a context relevant to today’s modern world.

What is NKT Day?

The first Saturday in April is set aside to commemorate the founding of the NKT–IKBU (New Kadampa Tradition–International Kadampa Buddhist Union) by Venerable Geshe Kelsang in 1991.  The occasion is marked by special events and by pujas (prayers) and dedications at Kadampa centers worldwide. If you would like to join us for these prayers, they will be offered from 5–6 p.m.
