Photographer Evgenia Arbugaeva hails from the small town of Tiksi, located in Siberia on the shores of the Arctic Ocean. The collection of works, running from April 6 through May 26, provides a surreal journey through her childhood memories of this remote landscape.

Gallery hours are Tuesday-Saturday 11am -7pm, and by appointment.

The Grunwald Gallery of Art is pleased to announce upcoming IU Bachelor of Fine Arts Thesis Shows. Artworks created by graduating BFA students from all Studio areas will be featured. Student shows give advanced Fine Arts student’s opportunities to participate in exhibition planning and installing their artwork. All events are free and open to the public. BFA 2 will be on display April 10 – 21, 2012 with an opening reception Friday, April 13, 6:00 – 8:00 pm. The exhibition will feature work from Kristen Endres (Photography), Haley Hodgen (Graphic Design), Elizabeth Pechacek (Ceramics), Taylor Rusthoven (Printmaking), and Christopher White (Ceramics).

Ben Brabson Lecture on Sustainable Ideas: Rhim Lee

Highlighting SustainIU’s “Act Naturally” week is 2011 TED Global Fellow Jae Rhim Lee, a visual artist, designer and researcher whose work focuses on relationships between the mind, body and self and the built and natural environment. Lee will give the first Ben Brabson Lecture on Sustainable Ideas at 4 p.m. Friday, April 13, in Fine Arts 015.

The annual lecture, named for physics professor emeritus Brabson, was established this year by the Student Sustainability Council to stimulate critical thought on a timely issue of environmental, economic or social sustainability. The first recipient of the Michael Hamburger Award for Sustainable Action, also established this year by the council, will be announced at the lecture.
