The first part of the day, from 11 am to 3 pm, is for business-to-business connection; business owners or representatives must bring a business card for admittance. 3pm to 7pm is open to the public and provides an opportunity for direct marketing and product showcasing. Beginning at 5pm is the “Taste of Expo” with free food provided by local restaurants.

Low Life and Hard Times: Poverty and Reform in the Age of Dickens

Rebecca Baumann, a doctoral candidate in the IU Department of English and the Victorian Studies Program, will discuss the plight of the poor in nineteenth-century Great Britain, as seen in the naturalistic photographs of Thomas Annan, Henry Dixon, Hill and Adamson, Peter Henry Emerson, and John Thomson. Her talk will discuss how these images reflect the depiction of poverty and London “low life” in the work of Charles Dickens.

Portraits of the Living: How photography can enhance the care of the dying

Linen Weaving of Things Past: An ink painting exhibition of Chinese artist Pu YueRu

The ACC will host a collection of ink paintings by artist Pu YueRu. Born in a small village of WuJi county, HeBei province, P.R.China in 1954, she spent forty years farming, sewing, weaving, and painting in the village, but now works in her studio in a suburb of Beijing. Her paintings nostalgically depict traditional lives in China, recalling a self-sustained, harmonious, and happy paradise of human life. This will be Pu YueRu’s first solo show in the United States.

Strength training is recommended to help keep muscles toned and bones dense. Certified instructors will use equipment such as body bars, hand weights, and stability balls to create a variety of workouts. This one-hour strength class will use exercises that are functionally appropriate for all and will create an overall toning experience for the entire body. It runs every Tuesday and Thursday evening from April 17 to May 24. Register on website.
