Parents are invited to bring their young children (newborn – 5 yrs) to the Born Learning Play Path on the Clear Creek Trail for nature activities, and out-loud reading from children’s books. The Born Learning Play Path, sponsored by United Way, is part of the Born Learning campaign, designed to help parents, caregivers and communities support early learning. The Born Learning Trail captures 10 fun, outdoor games on engaging signs to create learning opportunities for young children.

Irene is an Emmy and Peabody Award-winning, Oscar-nominated, producer, director, writer and cinematographer whose documentaries have shown theatrically, at film festivals and on television worldwide. Irene’s most recent film, The Final Inch, was nominated for a 2009 Academy Award®, three Emmy Awards, and won the International Documentary Association’s Pare Lorentz Award for Outstanding Cinematography. Her first feature-length film, Hear and Now, premiered at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival where it won the Audience Award and went on to receive a 2008 Peabody award and numerous Audience and Jury awards around the world. Hear and Now was also nominated for Documentary of the Year by the Producer’s Guild of America.

“The Mystique of Domes” will describe Gayle Cook’s experiences during the restoration of the West Baden Springs Hotel dome and the Monroe County Courthouse dome. She will also talk about the architectural history of domes around the world, the world’s largest domes, little-known domes, and current prospects for restoring a forgotten Indiana dome. Presented by the CRAFT Research Center and the Stone Age Institute.

A reception will follow the lecture. Event is free and open to all.
