On Friday, August 18th, beginning at 6:00 p.m., The Venue will host a reception for Joanne Shank and her Cosmic Horizons Show of new paintings. The show includes original and prints, ranging in price from $35.00 to $375.00.

Artist Statement –
My art starts with exploring color combinations I see in nature which is my endless resource and inspiration. After mixing colors I spread the acrylic paint with my hands across a non-absorbent surface allowing the paint to puddle and flow. I am intrigued by the magic that occurs in spontaneity creating new images.
Though I have spent a number of years painting with bamboo brush and watercolor, I’m returning to a style that I first started exploring when attending the Art Institute of Chicago and have only returned to occasionally since. I have decided to re-find my “flow,” and explore “new horizons.”
Because much of the “flow magic” occurs in small areas, I have enlarged and printed some of the images creating new compositions and depicting imaginary environments.
Joanne is a long time resident of Bloomington. She is a member of the Indiana Watercolor Society,
the Bloomington Watercolor Society and the founder and President of Arts Alliance of Greater Bloomington.
Our full collection of fine art and gifts will be on display and available for purchase.
