The last of the Enchanted Yogis programs for families with children ages 3 to 8, this Polynesian story celebrates the summer solstice, and was told among the Maoris of New Zealand, the Kanakas of the Hervey and Society Islands, and the ancient peoples of Hawaii. This ensemble consists of Sarah Kapustin, violin; Atar Arad and Steve Wyrczynski, viola; Peter Stumpf and Nathan Vickery, cello. They will perform the following works:

Beethoven: Viola Quintet in C Major

Brahms: Cello Sextet in G Major

The work of Avi Katz is on display in the City Hall atrium throuhgout the month of June. Avi was born and raised in Israel and is a graduate of the School of Visual Arts in New York. As a newcomer to Bloomington, Avi said he was compelled to do illustrations of local scenes in a uniquely visualized documentation from a non-conventional angle. His art is greatly influenced by French graphic novels and animation and the combination of the European style and local landmarks results in fresh observations of familiar places. Avi did the artwork for the Scott Russell Sanders fiction stories in the June/July 2012 issue of Bloom Magazine. This is his fourth exhibition.

The exhibit will be on display June 1-30. Exhibition hours are 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, as well as additional evening and weekend hours when City Hall is open for meetings.

The Ivy Tech John Waldron Arts Center presents this exhibit, a behind-the-scenes look at the costume and poster design for Ivy Tech’s highly-acclaimed debut student production about Depression-era taxi drivers contemplating a strike. This exhibit, along with others, runs from June 1 to 28 and is viewable during regular gallery hours (Mon – Sat, 9 am – 7 pm.)

This exhibit at the Mathers Museum of World Cultures examines the nature of culture through the exploration of cultural traditions surrounding life stages and universal needs. It is free and open to the public during regular museum hours, and will run until August 27.

Ivy Tech offers community art classes to the general public year-round at The Waldron through the Center for Lifelong Learning program. This exhibit displays the art created by some of the talented area artists who teach these classes. The exhibit is viewable during regular gallery hours (Mon – Sat, 9 am – 7 pm). Runs through June 28.

Epic landscapes, myths, and stereotypes collide as Ball State University photography instructor Chris Toalson explores what the American West truly is, and never was. When your toddler or preschool child hits the turf field at the Twin Lakes Recreation Center, they will be ready to run and play! An indoor turf field provides you and your young child with ample space to run, play on an obstacle course, and practice ball throwing and kicking skills. This free-time play is parent supervised while the TLRC provides all the equipment for an hour of healthy physical play. Check the monthly calendar for special Turf Time days with the bounce house and specially scheduled games. For children ages 1 – 6 yrs. w/parent. Every Monday and Wednesday.

Every Wednesday morning at 10:30 is Discovery Time at the WonderLab science museum for kids. Enjoy a hands-on activity, book, or both with a different science topic each week. Siblings are welcome. This exhibit at the Brown County Art Guild in Nashville showcases the work of landscape painters Ronald Mack and William Borden. The gallery is free and open to the public during regular gallery hours, Tues-Sat: 11 am-5 pm and Sunday: 12 pm-5 pm. Closed Mondays. Exhibit runs June 1 through 29.
