On Tuesday, June 27th, beginning at 5:30 p.m., The Venue will host a presentation by Heidi Newman, entitled Tips and Tricks for Self-Editing.
Heidi has been a full-time freelance proofreader and editor for 16 years. In addition to working on magazines, marketing materials and academic papers, she has collaborated on 142 books. Her client base includes publishers, independent authors, small businesses to Fortune 500 corporations, non-profit organizations, and university students and faculty. She has taught self-editing techniques to writers’ groups throughout the Midwest since 2001.
Tips and Tricks for Self-Editing will help writers learn to polish their own text before submitting pages to an editor, employer, publisher, professor, or targeted readership. This interactive presentation will offer ideas for improving writing and for spotting errors that can decrease the impact of the message. Anyone who writes for business or pleasure is welcome to attend and participate in this free session.
The Venue’s fine selection of paintings, jewelry, ceramics, and artistic gifts will also be on display for purchase.

Bruce Kell, Bill Price, and Frank Schweikhardt are the Feature Writers this evening!
Bruce Kell (www.BruceKellDesigns.com) is a very good artist and fun songwriter. His songs are sometimes silly, sometimes practical, and sometimes surprising – especially when he puts on his super-guru-flute-playin’ face.
Bill Price (www.reverbnation.com/BillBrice) is just wonderful with his well-written, well presented songs. He’s one of those guys that everyone flocks to after the Showcase . His songs are often tinged with nature themes. You just have to like him – he’s that kinda guy.
Frank Schweikhardt (www.fscheikhardt.bandcamp.com) is another referral from our own Brandon Pfeiffer – who describes his friend’s music as ‘serious’ but really good and worthy of a listening Audience. Sounds like our kind of guy! This will be Frank’s first Showcase, and we hope you all come out and make him feel welcome.
