Buskirk-Chumley Theater

When Dorothy fell out of Kansas, “a miracle occurred.” Riley Hospital for Children performs miracles each day by saving the lives of hundreds of kids. Join Bloomington South Dance Marathon in celebrating the miracles of Riley Hospital at the Miracle Movie Matinée showing of The Wizard of Oz.

Bloomington South Dance Marathon is a philanthropic organization run by students at BHSS and BHSN. Our mission is to raise funds and awareness for Riley Hospital for Children in honor of all of the children whose lives have been saved by the amazing care at Riley.

Indiana’s only nationally ranked and comprehensive children’s hospital, Riley and its regional clinics support more than 300,000 patient visits each year and involve more than 6,500 patients in clinical trials.

This year, 75 percent of our funds will go to the Wells Center for Pediatric Research and 25 percent will go to clinical programming. Since every dollar invested in Riley research leads to $12 in federal grants, our efforts will create a ripple effect that will impact the hospital immensely.

Doors will open at 2 p.m. for this general admission event, and the run time is 2.5 hours.

Bloomington Chamber Singers will present a sing-along reading of Handel’s Messiah, Parts 2 and 3, on Sunday, March 18, at 3 p.m. at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church (100 N. State Rd. 46, Bloomington). Parts 2 and 3 of this beloved oratorio, often referred to as the Easter sections, are associated with Christ’s death and resurrection. Audience members are invited to sing along with the chorus or simply listen. For those who don’t own a copy of the score, a limited number will be available for purchase or loan at the church.

The singers will be led by BCS Music Director Dr. Gerald Sousa. A small chamber orchestra will provide accompaniment. As is the case with our annual Christmas Messiah Sing, this event is free and open to the public.
