Amani at The Venue Plus a Sneak Preview

06:00 pm to 07:00 pm
The Venue

On Friday, November 16th, beginning at 6:00 p.m., The Venue will host and exhibition of Paintings and Drawings by Mega Amani Hanson, plus a sneak preview of paintings by Sanlly Veria and quilt art by Dew Dallam.
Amani looks like an All-American girl but she claims East Africa as home. Amani, which means peace in Swahili, has spent the majority of her life in Tanzania and Kenya, before coming to Bloomington, to attend Indiana University.
The amazing animals that dot the landscape of her home are the inspiration for much of Amani’s art. Her style ranges from abstract to realism, with elements of impressionism. Her unique talent is her ability to capture not only the form, but the spirit and energy of her animal subjects. Her display includes affordable originals and prints.
In addition, we are showing a sneak preview of paintings by Cuban artist Sanlly Veria, and quilt art by Dew Dallam. We hope to host full feature shows for each of these accomplished artists in the not too distant future.

Blaze

08:00 pm to 10:30 pm
Upland Wood Shop Sour Brewery
https://cicadacinema.bigcartel.com/product/tickets

Cicada Cinema is excited to screen BLAZE, a new film directed by Ethan Hawke. The film is inspired by the life of Blaze Foley, the unsung songwriting legend of the Texas outlaw music movement that spawned the likes of Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson. Based on the book “Living in the Woods in a Tree” by Sybil Rosen, the film weaves together three different periods of time, braiding re-imagined versions of Blaze’s past, present and future. The different strands explore his love affair with Sybil Rosen; his last, dark night on earth; and the impact of his songs and his death had on his fans, friends, and foes.
Doors 7pm film starts at 8pm.
