http://www.tinyurl.com/monroelake

FREE but registration is REQUIRED by November 25. Sign up by emailing [email protected] with your name, phone number, and number of people in your group (you may also call the Paynetown Activity Center at 812-837-9967). Limited to 15 people.

Program Location: Meet at the Monroe Lake Office (located on State Road 446, at the entrance to Paynetown SRA)

Are you fascinated by rocks? Intrigued by anticlines? Captivated by fault lines? Or… do you want to be? Then join us for a 3-hour driving tour that features the geology around Monroe Lake. Tours stops will highlight the Mt Carmel Fault, Leesville Anticline, Edwardsville Formation, Harrodsburg Limestone, and the Salem Limestone. We’ll explain not only what these things are, but what they tell us about this area’s geologic past – and how that has influenced our present landscape.

Please dress for the weather, as we will be spending time outside the vehicles at each stop. Some walking will be required. The tour will end at the southeast end of the lake, adjacent to State Road 37. Recommended for ages 16 and up.

Cost: Free, but registration required by Nov. 25
