On April 21st, 2012, Bloomington Chamber Singers will present Ludwig van Beethoven’s masterpiece, his Missa solemnis in D, op. 123. One of the pillars of Western choral-orchestral music, Missa solemnis was composed at the end of Beethoven’s life, and is unversally recognized as a work of extraordinary musical and spiritual importance. Music Director Gerald Sousa will lead the 80-voice choir, orchestra, and soloists.

Three Views of the Same Object tells the story of an elderly couple with a suicide pact… their agreement to end it all “before they lose control of their lives.” How do you know when the right moment presents itself? What if one is ready to go and the other isn’t. Multiple actors portray the same husband and wife as we see three simultaneous views of how this pact will play out.

Whoosh! Amazing Air

This exhibit will focus on air. Visitors learn how to use air to blast a block city, power a mini sailboat, and heat it to lift a mini hot-air balloon. Other interactive components of the exhibition include an air ball showing the Bernoulli effect, a flowing liquid streamliner, a clear air fountain, and a monkey parachute drop. Each part of the exhibition demonstrates how air moves and affects objects in its path. Nonmembers entry fee costs $7, members get in free.

Runs daily during museum hours.
