Bloomington High School North
http://siwemusic.org/

On Wednesday, May 9 at 7 p.m., the Southern Indiana Wind Ensemble, led by Music Director Eric Isaacson, will present its spring concert. The program, which will be given in the Bloomington High School North Auditorium, will include a special appearance by tuba professor Daniel Perantoni of the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. The concert will also feature a work by Eric Lindsay, the winner of the first annual SIWE Composition Competition. Admission is free.

Perantoni will perform Carnival of Venice, arranged for him by Richard Domek and conducted by SIWE Associate Music Director Will Petersen. Petersen will also conduct a movement entitled Gandalf, from Johan de Meij’s Symphony No. 1 “The Lord of the Rings.” Composition Competition winner Lindsay’s piece, Coronary Dance of the Destructive Sense, is a colorful depiction of a married couple not quite getting along on the dance floor. Also included in the program will be Karel Husa’s Smetana Fanfare, Elegy by John Barnes Chance, and Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Sea Songs.

Cost: Admission is free.
