Unleash some heavenly thunderbolts along with Carlson-Palmer Productions in our ninth annual free summer concert! Join us on Sunday, August 25 for “Curses! Oaths and Troths in Broadway and Opera.” Concert regulars – soprano Anna Singer, tenor Robert Chafin, baritone Richard Lewis, and pianist Michael Borowitz – launch an afternoon of music about enemies, frenemies, lovers, and others.

Our performers rain down curses on enemies while pledging oaths of friendship and everlasting love – we just can’t make up our minds! We perform scenes from Samson and Delilah, pitting the world’s greatest strongman against the original femme fatale. A sensitive princess develops a pea-sized pain in her back in the musical Once Upon a Mattress. You’ll meet an unhappy court jester and his carefree boss in Verdi’s Rigoletto, and enjoy ensembles of tragic friendship and comedic love from Verdi’s Forza del Destino and Rossini’s Barber of Seville.

Keeping with our 6-year tradition, at this free concert we’ll accept donations to benefit Fairview Elementary School’s literacy and Artful Learning programs. Last year, your generosity raised $3,000 for the school. We will feature a gallery walk of Fairview student artwork and class projects so you can experience firsthand the great things happening at this school. Join us for music, curses galore, and community engagement!

This program is supported in part by the Curry Fund for a Compassionate and Caring Community.

Cost: Free admission
