Déjà Vu Art and Fine Craft Show

10:00 am to 04:00 pm
The Commons
https://www.facebook.com/DejaVuArtAndFineCraftShow/

Nearly 70 artists who make something special from almost nothing will participate in the12th annual Déjà Vu Art and Fine Craft Show at The Commons in downtown Columbus, Indiana. The show has become a premier event in southern Indiana, drawing artists from across the Midwest.

All items in the juried show must be made wholly or in part from recycled material, and new beauty can be found in worn leather jackets, broken dishes, mismatched silverware, old sweaters, factory waste and hundreds of other things. Many participating artists are members of prestigious state organizations such as the Indiana Artisan or Kentucky Crafted programs. Déjà Vu has been recognized by the state as an official Indiana Bicentennial Legacy Project, and one creation will be awarded a cash prize for best capturing the spirit and history of 200 years of Hoosier life.

The range of creative work represented in Déjà Vu is enormous, including assemblages, glass, jewelry, mixed media, sculpture, wearable art, weaving, woodworking and some creations which each year defy classification.
Doug White of Amelia, Ohio, a woodcarver who specializes in creating birds from wood gathered from fallen trees or reclaimed from demolished buildings, is this year’s featured artist. White has been carving for almost 30 years, but only recently began selling his work.
