Dr. Filiz Cicek is an artist, scholar and journalist, who received her MFA and PhD from IU, and currently serves as a Fulbright Specialist for the Arts.
A native of Turkey, for the past 15 years Dr. Cicek has been studying and practicing the Art of Divination, by reading Turkish coffee cups, or ‘Fal’. With and for people, practitioners, artists, scholars and instructors; from the US, Germany, France and most recently Indonesia, she has explored and mastered these unique forms of future prediction. Filiz states, “There is an equalizing factor in Divination where people’s age, gender, race and national differences are erased as their fears and desires are explored through the cup. There is a lot to be gained from that cup of conversation, as it gives us insights into our collective human experience.”
On Tuesday, November 22nd, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Dr. Cicek will discuss and demonstrate Fal, by reading Turkish coffee cups. Turkish coffee and other light refreshments will be provided. This event will be interactive, informative, and fun.
