Artist Talk: Walid Raad

04:00 pm to 06:00 pm
Eskenazi Museum of Art at Indiana University
https://events.iu.edu/artmuseum/view/event/event_id/123365

Lebanese-American conceptual artist Walid Raad will discuss his work and forthcoming projects, preceded by a gallery talk by Margaret Graves and Elliot Reichert.

Walid Raad is a Lebanese artist whose works include film, photography, multimedia installations, and public performances. Most of his work deals with the contemporary history of Lebanon and the wars in Lebanon between 1975 and 1991. He is also often concerned with the representation of traumatic events of collective historical dimensions; and the ways film, video, and photography function as documents of physical and psychological violence. He is also a member of the Arab Image Foundation. Raad lives and works in Beirut, Lebanon and New York. He received an M.A. from Boston University and an M.A. and a Ph.D. from the University of Rochester. He is a professor in the School of Art at The Cooper Union and at Home Workspace, Beirut, Lebanon.
