By now, I think you know the lambs I’m talking about—our say-nothing, do-nothing congressmen Sen. Mike Braun, Sen. Todd Young, and Rep. Trey Hollingsworth.

They said nothing when Donald Trump confessed to being a sexual predator and more than a dozen women accused him of assault. Now he’s also credibly accused of rape and is refusing to give a DNA sample.

They said nothing when Trump pronounced that there were “very fine people” among the neo-Nazis and white supremacists carrying torches and chanting racist slogans in Charlottesville, Virginia.

They said nothing when his phony charity and rip-off university were exposed.

They said nothing when he chose to believe that Russia didn’t interfere in the 2016 election, siding with Vladimir Putin against our own intelligence agencies.

They said nothing about his anemic response to Puerto Rico’s devastation after Hurricane Maria.

They said nothing about his impeachment for withholding authorized military aid to the Ukraine in his attempt to get made-up dirt on Joe Biden.

They said nothing when Trump abandoned our Kurdish allies on the battlefield in Syria despite the protestations of our military leaders.

They said nothing about his Bible-touting photo-op which resulted in government forces clearing Lafayette Park of peaceful protestors using rubber bullets, noxious gas, flash bangs, and truncheons.

They continue to say nothing about Trump’s ignorance (or worse) regarding Putin offering bounties to the Taliban for killing American soldiers.

They said nothing about his divisive, racist speeches at Mt. Rushmore and on the White House lawn over the July 4 holiday weekend.

The sins of this sociopathic president go on and on. Yet Braun, Young, and Hollingsworth stay tightlipped as obedient schoolboys afraid of being caned (which, metaphorically on Twitter, they would be).

But to not speak out now during a pandemic that has sickened more than 4 million Americans and taken the lives of more than 145,000 is criminal. Trump continues to lie, spouting happy talk about the incredible success his administration is having, as new records of disease and death are reported daily. And Vice President Mike Pence, a wolf in sheep’s clothing, is forever compliant to keep his job and maybe someday take over. As hypocrites go, the pious Mr. Pence is hard to beat.

President Richard Nixon and Sen. Joseph McCarthy were Boy Scouts compared to Trump and Pence. Their crimes were parking tickets next to the tens of thousands of deaths caused by this soulless, heartless, ignorant president’s mismanaged coronavirus response.

The upcoming election is the most momentous since Lincoln vs. Breckenridge in 1860, when the future of slavery was in the balance. For this is more than politics as usual with Republican conservatives vs. Democrat liberals. Politics is just the battlefield—the fight is between right and wrong, between a republic and a dictatorship, between justice and injustice, between good and evil.

Sadly, we are stuck for now with our feckless, silent senators. But Hollingsworth is up for re-election and can be beaten despite his father’s millions and the fact that Indiana is one of the country’s most gerrymandered states. This November, let’s houseclean the White House and send Trey and his “Big Boy Pants” back to Tennessee. VOTE.
