ELF The Musical

07:30 pm
IU Auditorium
http://www.iuauditorium.com/events/detail/elf

ELF The Musical is the hilarious and heartwarming tale of Buddy, who, as a young orphan child, mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. Unaware that he is actually human, Buddy’s enormous size and poor toy-making abilities put him face-to-face with the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father, discover his true identity, and help the city remember the true meaning of Christmas. This modern day Christmas classic is sure to make everyone embrace their inner ELF.

Based on the beloved 2003 New Line Cinema film, ELF features songs by Tony Award nominees Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin (The Wedding Singer), with a book by Tony Award winners Thomas Meehan (Annie, The Producers, Hairspray), and Bob Martin (The Drowsy Chaperone).

Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain

08:00 pm
Buskirk-Chumley Theater
https://bctboxoffice.org/event/ukelele-orchestra-of-great-britain/

George Hinchliffe’s Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain has become a global sensation and nothing short of a national treasure in the UK. With a career that spans more than 30 years, their development has been from curiosity to virtuosity, from village hall to Carnegie Hall. Using instruments bought for loose change, the Ukes of GB have performed for the British Royal Family, at the Royal Albert Hall, Sydney Opera House, and Glastonbury Festival.

On an ongoing “hand-luggage only” world tour, the Ukes provide pure entertainment, dead-pan British humour, and irresistible foot-tapping music. They are the masters of the unexpected, whether re-imaging folk songs, twisting classical music favorites, uncovering quirky versions of rock covers, or playing the performers’ own all-original compositions, they always deliver virtuosic, twanging awesomeness in a collision of post-punk performance and toe-tapping oldies.
