Yoga for MySelf: Yoga for MS | Yoga Therapy Class in Bloomington IN

We are pleased to offer Yoga for MySelf: Yoga Therapy for MS, a gentle yoga therapy class designed to address the specific needs and requirements of those with Multiple Sclerosis. This specialized yoga class has been offered in Bloomington for 12 years and is led by an experienced, C-IAYT yoga therapist specializing in yoga therapy for MS and other neurological conditions. Class size is restricted in order to ensure that proper attention and supervision are given to each attendee, and exercises and postures are modified as necessary. Ability, energy level, and knowledge of yoga will vary… We ask that attendees come to class with a sense of humor and respect for others.

Yoga Therapy Classes Include:
_ Gentle, modified Hatha Yoga appropriate for those with MS
_ Balancing of muscle groups, nerve stretches, hip and spine mobilization
_ Therapeutic yoga exercises to assist with proprioception, balance, gait
_ Learning to recognize forms of stress and tension in the body which can lead to fatigue, spasticity, falls
_ Focus on confidence and body-awareness
_ Using the breath as a natural support during yoga and to decrease overall fatigue and chronic pain

Yoga for Myself Classes meet on Tuesdays at 9:15am in a location appropriate for those with restricted mobility: Handicap accessible parking, no stairs, non-slip floors, and wheelchair accessible bathrooms.

12th Annual Bloomington Polar Bear Plunge

This year will marks the 12th Annual Plunge … January 1st at 11:00AM at Fairfax Beach near Four Winds Resort in Bloomington. It’s a plunge into the frigid waters of Lake Monroe – and a seriously fun time for all !!

The 2016 Polar Bear Plunge is a free event — everyone is welcome! Certificates of Achievement will be awarded to all registered participants. This year’s theme is ugly sweaters.

T-shirts commemorating the event will be available at the event. All proceeds from the t-shirt sales go to the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network.

Put yourself in the expert hands of a certified WHM Instructor to learn the 3 pillars of the Wim Hof Method: Breathing Technique, Cold Exposure & Commitment. Find out how you can utilize oxygen and cold exposure to optimize body & mind, and learn about the underlying physiology.

The intimate quality allows for ample personal attention, and feedback tailored to your specific situation. Whether you are looking to improve mental or physical performance, relieve symptoms related to an illness, or are just curious to find out what the Wim Hof Method is all about— a WHM workshop offers something for everyone.

The program generally kicks off with an introduction to the Wim Hof Method, and always includes a breathing session and an (optional) ice bath. At the end there is ample room for reflection, and the Instructor is there to answer questions throughout the workshop.

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is suitable for everyone over 18, but does require a basic level of health. Out of precaution, we advise against participation during pregnancy, or if you are epileptic. People with cardiovascular issues, or any other serious health conditions should always consult a medical professional before starting the Wim Hof Method.
