Kits Designed to Save Pets In Fires & Other Disasters

According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, about 40,000 pets die in household fires in the United States every year. In response to those disturbing numbers, Kimberly Goy, development director for the Monroe County Humane Association (MCHA), spearheaded a campaign to protect local pets, and last spring the MCHA outfitted all 37 Bloomington, Ellettsville, and township fire trucks with animal rescue kits.

200-Year History of Bloomington Focus of Mathers Museum Exhibit

January 2018 marked the start of Bloomington’s bicentennial year, and in September, Indiana University kicked off a yearlong series of events celebrating its own 200 years. In honor of both occasions, the Mathers Museum of World Cultures has gathered materials that put an environmental spin on the history of the city and the university in an exhibit entitled “800 Seasons: Change and Continuity in Bloomington, 1818–2018.”

B-town Music Expo Is Back February 8

The Bloomington Music Expo—part record and music-memorabilia show, part art and music festival— will be held Saturday, February 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Monroe Convention Center. The event, now in its second year, came from the mind of Mike McAfee, executive director of Visit Bloomington.
