Back by popular demand after a six-year hiatus, Take a Picture Day (Part 3: Winter), is set for December 10, 2016. We launched Take A Picture Day in the summer of 2008 with spectacular results. Photographs taken on August 23 of that year – a typical summer day in Bloomington – were published in the October/November 2008 issue. We repeated Take A Picture Day on October 16, 2010, and again readers contributed fabulous pictures of Monroe County in all of its autumn glory, which we published in the December 2010/January 2011 issue. So this year, we are going after winter photographs.

Amateurs, pros, moms, dads, kids, students, retirees — we’re asking everyone to take photos anywhere in Bloomington and Monroe County during what we hope will be a beautiful winter’s day. The deadline for submissions is December 20.

The photographs we select for publication will appear in the February/March 2017 issue of Bloom. Contributors will receive $20 for each one of their images we print.

In case of inclement weather on December 10, Take a Picture Day will be postponed to Saturday, December 17, and the new deadline for submissions will be December 27.unnamed
