The Habitat ReStore at 850 S. Auto Mall Road hosted an informational event on Thursday, January 25, for members of the community to learn about the organization’s annual Home Builders Blitz.

The Blitz, organized by Habitat for Humanity, is a weeklong event that involves thousands of professional homebuilders nationwide constructing, repairing, and revitalizing homes in their communities. Thursday’s kick-off event at the ReStore was a way to educate the community about the Blitz and to invite additional builders, suppliers, and subcontractors to join the effort.

Among those who spoke at the event were Habitat for Humanity Monroe County CEO Darryl Nehrer and Habitat ReStore Manager Meagan Mabrey. Nehrer announced that this year’s Builders Blitz was in memory of Tim Laughlin, a longtime Habitat for Humanity supporter and builder for the Blitz.

The Habitat ReStore dedicated $140,000 in profits toward the Blitz, hoping to fully fund the construction goal of three or four homes. The Blitz will take place from June 4–8. Click here for more information or to get involved.
