An invitational exhibit

By Hand Gallery presents its artists many-layered and exotic interpretations of Erotica.

The small scale works variously are abstract, carefully representational, and symbolic as they allude to the Erotic in its many forms. The artists sculpt glass, clay, and stone, paint in encaustic oil, watercolor, and pastel, and interlace textiles, mosaic, and wood.

Artists include Julie Bloom, Sidney Bolam, Michal Ann Carley, Ruth Conway, Nel Devitt, Tom Duffy, Carolynne Gieryn, Bert Gilbert, Abby Gitlitz, Bonnie Gordon–Lucas, Marilyn Greenwood, Suzanne Halverson, Nancy Lethem, Cappi Phillips, Steve Rapp, Tom Rhea, Walt Schmidt, Joanne Shank.

Refresh yourself. Improve well-being in this one-hour yoga session led by an instructor from Vibe Yoga Studio. Ages 13 and up.
Consider pairing your yoga session with our new Cultural Wellness program, an art therapy program that begins 15 minutes after Yoga. Reserve a space for Cultural Wellness on the Eskenazi website.

This session is the first of six dates when we’ll offer Yoga at the museum during Spring Semester, through early April. Please register for each yoga date separately.

In this program you will learn about wellness practices from around the world and will discuss works of art from the Museum’s collection that relate to these wellness practices. For select programs, you will be able to engage in an art-making activities relating to specific wellness practices. A different wellness practice will be discussed during each program.

This evening’s Date Night is designed to pair with the Les Miserables musical production at IU Auditorium. Whether your plans include the Auditorium performance or not, whether you come solo or with others, we invite you to try our new Social Saturday evening programming.

This evening’s program includes:

Music Café: Enjoy live French harp music in the atrium from 5 – 7 p.m., featuring Caroline Robinson, and meal and snack options available for purchase at the Museum Café and Shop.
Galleries open until 7 p.m.
Les Mis Tour: Explore the revolutionary ideas behind the French Impressionist movement through this student-designed tour, with intern Nia Pontius, at 6 p.m. RSVP on the Eskenazi website to reserve a space on the Les Mis Tour.
Wellness Experience: Symbols of Strength: With themes in Les Miserables of courage, strength, and triumph of the human spirit in mind, guests will search for a symbol of strength in the museum’s galleries. Using the collection as inspiration, guests will then create their own symbol of strength in the art-making studio. 6 p.m.-7 p.m. RSVP on the Eskenazi website to reserve a space for Symbols of Strength.
