Do you know the difference between a will and a trust? Which one do you need? Or do you need both? In this course, taught by a board-certified trust and estate lawyer, you will learn the differences between these two common estate planning tools. The instructor will cover the basics of estate planning, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advanced medical directives. Using easily understood stories and illustrations, you will come away with a basic understand of estate planning concepts as well as what probate is, and ways to avoid it. You will also learn how you can control and protect how your assets are managed during an incapacity.

Experience Maple Syrup Season

Visit the sugaring operations, learn the maple syrup production process, and explore its history. Weather permitting there will be a syrup boil in progress in the wood-fired outdoor evaporator and new this year, the old iron kettle. Available for purchase will be freshly bottled maple syrup, maple cream, maple candy, do-it-yourself maple tree tapping kits, and books pertaining to maple syrup production and use. Also available for purchase will be jams and jellies prepared by Farmstead Volunteers. Friday Musicale and The Bloomington Old-Time Music and Dance Group with Mark Wiedenmayer will be hosting music in the parlor. Volunteers will give indoor tours of the Farmhouse.
The Farmstead is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is owned and maintained by Bloomington Restorations, Inc.

This year’s iteration features pieces by composers; Charlie Banta, Pierce Baruk, YounJe Cho, Evan Fontaine, Jamey Guzman, Ben Hoppe, Matthew Levin, Ariel Sol Bertulfo Schwartz and Yuseok Seol.
