Like many photographers, Rodney Margison was bitten by the photography bug at a young age. His father was a semi-professional photographer, which led Margison to launch his photography career while still in high school, working as a freelancer for his hometown daily newspaper. Margison continued freelancing while studying photojournalism at Ball State University before eventually becoming the staff photographer for the daily Times-Tribune newspaper in Corbin, Kentucky.

For 17 consecutive years, Margison photographed the Indianapolis 500 and many other motorsports events around the country. He worked for eight years at the Brown County Democrat newspaper as a reporter and photographer and is now the managing editor at Bloom. After studying fine art and commercial photography at Academy of Art University, Margison has a studio downtown where he photographs fashion- and body- inspired portraits.

“I love photographing people and helping bring to light those parts of their personality that might not otherwise be seen,” Margison says, adding that he prefers a conceptual, fine art approach to his portraiture.
