IU Cinema Presents: ‘Lawrence of Arabia’

07:00 pm
IU Cinema (1213 E. 7th Street)
http://www.cinema.indiana.edu/

The new digital restoration of David Lean’s epic will be presented in honor of the IU Cinema’s 2nd anniversary – revisiting the digital version of its opening film from January 13, 2011.

In an age of small screens, seeing “Lawrence of Arabia” onscreen with full overture and intermission is a larger-than-life cinematic adventure. Arguably one of the best films ever made, Lean’s epic story depicts the life of T.E. Lawrence, the controversial and romanticized British officer who led an Arab revolt against the Ottoman Empire during the First World War. The Arabian Desert, captured in Super Panavision 70, provides a majestic backdrop for Lawrence’s larger-than-life exploits. The film was nominated for 10 Academy Awards, winning seven. Guster at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater

08:00 pm
Buskirk-Chumley Theater (114 E. Kirkwood Ave.)
http://www.bctboxoffice.com/

Ever since their humble beginnings at Tufts University, Guster has always sought to outdo itself. They sell out New York’s fabled Radio City Music Hall one year and perform with the Boston Pops at Symphony Hall the next. They sell out a 33-date college tour, and this past spring founded the eco-friendly Campus Consciousness Tour, with buses powered by biodiesel and performances powered by wind power. It’s in this overachieving band’s nature to one-up itself.

Guster will perform an acoustic concert at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater. Purchase tickets at website.
