MLK Day Weave-In: One Million Stars To End Violence

01:00 pm to 05:00 pm
Mathers Museum of World Cultures
http://www.lotusfest.org/event/one-million-stars-mlk2017/

Learn, weave, and make your voice heard on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day 2017! Weave a star with Lotus and join a worldwide movement….and help our community reach the Star Finish Line.

The powerful “One Million Stars to End Violence” project, founded in Australia, was inspired by MLK, Jr.: “Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.” Lotus joins 150+ global partners leading our communities to each contribute 10,000 stars (we’re at 7500+ as of November 2017) as symbols of light and solidarity against all forms of violence. The final stars will be sent to Australia to become part of a worldwide installation of 1,000,000 stars in 2018 at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
