Native American Spiritualism, Getting Connected: A presentation by Michael Vargas.

05:30 pm to 07:00 pm
The Venue Fine Art & Gifts

For most of us, our understanding of Native American Spiritualism (Indian) is limited to it having to do with nature, and including some movie version of Indian tribal rituals. On Tuesday, July 18th, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The Venue will host a presentation by Michael Vargas, entitled Getting Connected.
Michael is well grounded in Native American Spiritualism and is the founder of the Scared Nations Cultural Center. One of his primary missions is to acquaint mainstream America with the texture and richness of Native American Spiritualism. While an appreciation of nature is an important component of the Native American Spirit, there is much, much, more. Come to the Venue on Tuesday eve and grow your understanding and appreciation of all things Indian.

Kenan Rainwater, Gary Applegate & Megan Luttrell – The Bloomington Songwriter Showcase

08:00 pm to 10:00 pm
Bears Place - 1316 East 3rd St., Bloomington IN 47401
http://www.facebook.com/BloomingtonSongwriters

Tonight, we’ve got a Songwriter Showcase sure to please everyone. Megan Luttrell (www.MeganLuttrellMusic.com) will make her debut as a Feature Songwriter. Megan is in from Kansas and is doing some teaching at I.U. for the summer. She showed up last week to strut her stuff and did just that at our weekly Open Guest Chair spot. Luttrell has a BIG voice with a kind of Nashville/Americana sound. She gets around on guitar pretty well too!

Gary Applegate (www.GaryApplegate.com) will just steal your heart as he presents his strong Blues tunes with a very strong vocal/stage presence. Using his sizable guitar skill and some sound inventions (yes, he did invent some of the equipment he’ll be using), Applegate sounds like a full band . . . without using loop technology! Don’t miss him.

Kenan Rainwater (www.KenanRainwater.com) is the dreamy front man for ‘The Indiana Boys’ a very popular local Bluegrass band. He also shines as front man in the Kenan Rainwater Band – which is more Country/Rock-Alternative Americana orientated. He’s a STRONG performer in a band environment, but even stronger as a solo performer where you can hear his tunes up close and personal.

Of course – we’ll have our weekly Open Guest Chair where fellow singer-songwriters can do a tune and be part of the program – spots for that Open Guest Chair are limited, so if interested; email us at [email protected] to reserve a spot.
FREE – MUST be at least 21 to enter Bears Back Room (1316 E. 3rd St)
FREE Parking in lot behind Bears (enter on Jordan Ave) AND on street after 5pm
