Cardinal Stage presents “Charlotte’s Web” October 18 – November 3 at the Ivy Tech Waldron Auditorium. This fall the beloved children’s classic Charlotte’s Web returns to Cardinal Stage! When a girl named Fern saves a little pig named Wilbur, she opens the door to a world of friendship and adventure. Together, with the help of the wise Charlotte, the Gander, the Goslings, and even the sneaky Templeton, Wilbur and Fern show the farm and the world just how extraordinary an ordinary pig can be!

Join us for this free “celebration of amateur films and filmmaking held annually at many local venues worldwide.” Home Movie Day events provide the opportunity for individuals and families to see and share their own home movies with an audience of their community, and to see their neighbors’ in turn. It’s a chance to consult with Indiana University archivists and digital media specialists to learn how to preserve and care for film, slides, photographs, and VHS recordings. All are welcome.

The paved trail through the woods comes to life with your child’s favorite movie, storybook, and fairy tale characters! Participate in games and strike a pose at a photo booth while you wait to go on the trail. We will also have taste testing of hocus-pocus healthy snacks and active, jumping jack-o’-lantern fun! Admission is $4/child. Geared toward ages 1-8 yrs. One adult admitted free with paid child’s admission. $2 each additional adult. Due to the popularity of the Trick or Treat Trail, there may be a wait to enter the trail. We appreciate your patience!

Community Flight Night

WTIU and Monroe County Airport are partnering to create a Community Flight Night! Saturday, October 19, 6-9pm on the grounds of the Monroe County Airport, 972 S. Kirby Road in Bloomington. Several area organizations will join in the fun to provide fun and educational family activities. There will be space related video screenings for adults and kids of all ages, telescopes for sky exploration, airplane take-offs and landings, guided airport tours, food trucks, and more. Various vehicles will be on display for unique learning opportunities including a medevac helicopter, the airport fire rescue vehicle, a tethered hot air balloon, and several types of airplanes. This event is FREE and OPEN to the public.

Truth Matters Event, The Brainwashing of My Dad

Concerned about “fake” news in the media? Join us for the groundbreaking documentary by filmmaker Jen Senko that examines the rise of right-wing media through the lens of her radicalized father. A Q&A session will follow, with panelists Jen Senko (via Skype), IU Media School journalism professor Jason Peifer and IU School of Informatics and Computer Science professor Filippo Menczer. Dr. Menczer studies the spread of disinformation across social media and is the director of the new IU Observatory on Social Media. Panel moderator, Alex Semchuck, teaches communication at Ivy Tech Community College.
Handouts will be available to help “get to the truth” in today’s media.
