Noon Talk: The Beauty of Indiana’s Constitutional Elm

Under an elm tree in Corydon two hundred years ago, Hoosiers penned what would become the constitution of their state. James H. Madison, Thomas and Kathryn Miller Professor Emeritus of History, will discuss Thomas Hart Benton’s preparatory studies for the panel in his Indiana Murals that depicts the period when Indiana became a state. The program is presented in conjunction with the Indiana State Bicentennial and has been endorsed as an official Bicentennial Legacy Project. This Noon Talk is in association with an ongoing installation Becoming A State: Studies in Thomas Hart Benton’s Indiana Murals, on view now through December 31, 2016.

The class is taught by Carli Astell who has been teaching yoga since 2002. Her classes consist of ashtanga inspired hatha yoga, and vinyasa yoga I and II. In her class the goal is to have fun, be free, and spread love. The class is great for beginners and practiced yogis alike. All levels are welcome and encouraged.

Pau will discuss her work as an artist, Pasifika weaving traditions, her collaborative art-making, and the journey of founding the One Million Stars project.
