About the Day:
Watercolor artist and turtle aficionado Brian Gordy will present “Native Turtles of Indiana” at 1 pm Saturday July 20th at McCormick’s Creek State Park Nature Center in Spencer, Indiana.

Fed by his hours of observation from both riverbank and kayak, Brian’s study of turtles through painting has been an ongoing endeavor since 2003. Mr. Gordy will show examples of his paintings of the 18 native species of turtles that exist in Indiana, while discussing their differences, and providing tips to help identify each species from a casual glance. Mr. Gordy’s presentation will also touch on unique behaviors regarding the different species as well as conservation issues that are affecting our Indiana turtles.

Following the presentation from 2-4 pm, there will be an artist’s reception at Juniper Art Gallery in downtown Spencer, where Gordy’s work will be on display (throughout the month of July). At 3 pm Brian will conduct a watercolor demonstration at Juniper Art Gallery showing the creation of a turtle painting.

About the Artist:
Brian Gordy is a Signature Member of Transparent Watercolor Society of America, Red River Watercolor Society, and Watercolor Society of Indiana. His work is represented by Juniper Art Gallery in Spencer, GFAF Gallery in Muncie, Brown County Art Guild in Nashville, and Edenside Gallery in Louisville. Brian’s watercolors have earned him the official designation of Indiana Artisan, by the State of Indiana. Read more about Brian Gordy at JuniperArtGallery.com
