Anything Goes

08:00 pm to 08:00 pm on Nov 18
IU Auditorium, 1211 E 7th St
http://www.iuauditorium.com/

All aboard for the saucy and splendid new production of Anything Goes—winner of three 2011 Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival and Best Choreography. One of the greatest musicals in theatre history, Cole Porter’s first-class musical comedy is sailing across the country and pulling into port at IU Auditorium this November. Based on the celebrated Roundabout Theatre Company’s production, The New York Times hails it a “musical-comedy joy,” and USA Today calls it “glorious and exuberant!”

When the S.S. American heads out to sea, etiquette and convention get tossed out the portholes as two unlikely pairs set off on the course to true love…proving that sometimes destiny needs a little help from a crew of singing sailors, an exotic disguise, and some good old-fashioned blackmail. Cole Porter’s iconic score accelerates this fast-paced musical voyage, peppering the timeless classic with some of musical theatre’s most memorable standards, including “I Get a Kick Out of You” and “You’re the Top.” And of course, this tale wouldn’t be complete without top-notch dancing and jaw-dropping production numbers like “Blow, Gabriel, Blow!” and the title number “Anything Goes.”

Anything Goes is a shining example of classic musical theatre, complete with amazing tap numbers, campy jokes, unlikely happy endings, and eminently hummable songs. For those seeking a deliriously giddy night of light-hearted musical-comedy gold, don’t miss what the Associated Press exclaims as, “So delightful, so delicious, so DE-LOVELY!”

Cost: General public: $63, $53, $39; IUB students: $42, $31, $21
