We offer a large selection of contemporary art from up and coming as well as established artists. Sub Rosa shows work from local and regional artists and offers a wide variety of media and aesthetic. All artists are hand picked by us to maintain a high level of quality and originality throughout the collection.
The name “Sub Rosa” is latin for under the rose. It has been used to represent secret societies and the underground. Owners Jeremy Sweet and Colin McClain, a printmaker and tattooer respectively, felt this was an appropriate name for a gallery because the media they practice are often viewed as lesser art forms.
Sub Rosa breaks from tradition by presenting the work in a salon style presentation similar to Parisian Salons prominent from around 1750 to 1900. Our presentation is also inspired by flash art presentation in tattoo shops around the world.
