Conrad Prebys Amphitheatre

Summer in Bloomington means warm days, cool nights, and the best free concert series of the year: WFIU Public Radio and the Department of Jazz Studies at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music are proud to present the 2019 return of Jazz in July.

This free outdoor concert series is bringing you more of the best jazz from around Indiana. We encourage guests to bring lawn chairs, blankets or even a picnic!

Saxophonist, recording artist, and composer Amanda Gardier has been described as “a uniquely talented jazz composer and soloist” (Nuvo). With influences stemming from Miguel Zenon, The Bad Plus, Walter Smith III, and Bjork, Gardier is an alto saxophonist who juxtaposes the calmness of lush harmonies and cyclical melodies with the intensity of complex rhythms and fiery improvisation.

All concerts take place at the Conrad Prebys Amphitheater.

Rain locations: July 5, 12 – Cramer Marching Hundred Hall; July 19, 26 – Recital Hall

An Important Message from Bloom Magazine

For the past 14 years, we have been publishing Bloom, a free, bimonthly cultural and lifestyle magazine serving Bloomington, Indiana, and surrounding communities. We have four missions: to support local businesses, local charities, local arts, and diversity. We are an integral part of the fabric of this community.

Like so many small businesses (4 employees), we are facing huge challenges in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. We hope to be able to continue producing the magazine and our website, magbloom.com, but we need your help.

Please consider donating to our GoFundMe drive using the link below. Thank you!
