Maceo has played with each and every leader of funk, starting with James Brown—an experience that Maceo describes as “like being at university”—then jumping aboard the mothership with George Clinton and serving as a fixture in Prince’s tours. He has wound his way through the history of funk as one golden thread.

Parker’s collaborations over the years have included performances with Ray Charles, Ani Difranco, James Taylor, De La Soul, the Dave Matthews Band, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. His timeless sound has garnered him a fresh young fan base. Parker received a Pioneer Award from the Rhythm and Blues Foundation for his contribution to the R & B genre, as well as a Lifetime Achievement Award from Les Victoires du Jazz in Paris.
