AN HIV/AIDS Art/Ed Series

05:30 pm to 07:00 pm
The Venue

The Venue is pleased to partner again for this uniquely creative Program developed with Community HIV/AIDS Awareness Advocate Jesse Elkins and Friends! —
On August 21 Beginning at 5:30, EVERYONE is invited to hear, share and make art inspired by HIV/AIDS true stories contributed by local community members. Presenters will share their 5-10 minute stories about things they have seen, heard, or experienced about HIV/AIDS that affected their lives directly—No story to tell? COME ANYWAY… You’ll learn a lot just by listening! A way to create a more honest and cohesive community through sharing!
Everyone is invited to write out their story and weave it into a community-created textile. At the Venue you will be provided looms, yarn, tools, story-writing materials, weaving technique examples and help weaving!
Have you witnessed something you would like to share? Have you supported someone through a diagnosis, treatment or illness? Are you HIV positive and would like to share your experience? Want to challenge the community? Make us laugh, make us cry? Then don’t miss this event!
Over-the-top Refreshments will be served! (And if you attended Part 1, you know they’re outstanding!) You can come and go as you please—Arrive at 5:30, with or without your written story, mingle, write your story, make art, and make friends. Storytelling begins at 6:30 7:30/8:00. Art making is throughout the evening.
With Gratitude we acknowledge the sponsoring partners in the series have been Rainbow Bakery, Hopscotch Coffee, and Bloomington Bagel Company and Cardinal Spirits, and of course, THE VENUE.
Wanting to Share your Story? Send your written 5-10 minute story to [email protected].
