Sculpture Garden Tour

10:00 am to 11:00 am
Sculpture Garden of the Haan Museum of Indiana Art

FREE EVENT: The Haan Museum of Indiana Art is proud to introduce our NEW Sculpture Garden Tours. Learn about the amazing artwork and beautiful native plants of the Haan Museum’s Sculpture Garden! Tours will be led by a docent who will give an in-depth view of our unique outdoor collection.

Located just behind the mansion, this 0.2 mile wheelchair accessible path features over 25 sculptures by Indiana artists. A broad and diverse range of works are featured along the path such as figural bronzes, metal sculptures, works in clay, carved Serpentine stone pieces, and glass platters too. Carved stone African animals are also interspersed throughout the garden to provide a fun interactive safari adventure for all ages.

Tours of the garden are FREE but are limited to only 10 guests per tour. Reservations are required. You may register up to 24 hours in advance of the scheduled tour. Masks are highly recommended. Each tour is uniquely different, but all will include the basic information about the sculptures and native plants.

Reserve your space by visiting www.haanmuseum.org. Bring your reservation confirmation with you the day of your tour or show us the confirmation on your cell phone/mobile device for a contactless check-in (preferred). While making your reservation, be sure to download the Sculpture Garden Guide and bring it with you for your tour. (We will not be handing out printed guides at this time).

Limited parking is available on the Haan Museum grounds along with street side parking. Guests will need to check-in at the Sculpture Garden Main Gate located just off of the parking lot. There are no outdoor public restroom facilities.

Pollination Party

Paynetown State Recreation Area, 4850 S. State Road 446, Bloomington, IN

Pollination “party” takes place at Paynetown SRA, July 11

Bloomington, IN: Monroe Lake is celebrating the addition of a new pollinator garden space at Paynetown SRA with a Pollination Party at the Activity Center on Saturday, July 11 from 1 to 4 p.m.

Attendees can check out the new raised beds, planted with native plants, while exploring how to “bee” a friend to pollinators. You can make a bumblebee finger puppet, dissect a flower, play a pollinator matching game, “dance” like a honey bee, pick up activity books, check out wildflower art created by other visitors, and paint flowers on a group mural.

Activities will be spaced to allow for social distancing and attendees are strongly encouraged to wear masks while participating.

The activities are included for free with property admission. The daily entrance fee for Paynetown State Recreation Area, 4850 S. State Road 446, Bloomington, is $7 per vehicle with Indiana license plates ($9 per vehicle with out-of-state plates). Indiana State Park Annual Entrance Permits are also accepted.

Questions about this event should be directed to the Paynetown Activity Center at 812-837-9967 or to Jill Vance, interpretive naturalist, at [email protected]

An Important Message from Bloom Magazine

For the past 14 years, we have been publishing Bloom, a free, bimonthly cultural and lifestyle magazine serving Bloomington, Indiana, and surrounding communities. We have four missions: to support local businesses, local charities, local arts, and diversity. We are an integral part of the fabric of this community.

Like so many small businesses (4 employees), we are facing huge challenges in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. We hope to be able to continue producing the magazine and our website, magbloom.com, but we need your help.

Please consider donating to our GoFundMe drive using the link below. Thank you!
