Featured Exhibit: Hattie Stanton & Thom Robinson

Brown County Art Guild
http://www.browncountyartguild.org

Hattie Stanton & Thom Robinson will be the featured artists at the Brown County Art Guild during the month of June.

Thom C. Robinson, OPA grew up in Flint, Michigan. He was raised in an artistically inclined family—his mother enjoyed painting, and his father practiced woodworking. Robinson attended the Flint Institute of Art. Following his studies, Thom joined the Navy. While stationed in San Diego, he traveled extensively, painting Southwest desert and mountain scenes.

After his Navy stint in southern California, Thom and his family were returning to Michigan from California, when they stopped to visit family in Bedford, the heart of Indiana’s limestone country. Intrigued by the southern Indiana landscape, Robinson changed his plans and settled down to paint the Hoosier hills. With just a knapsack and the naked eye, Robinson paints outside, in all kinds of weather, any time of day and hikes or boats for miles to find scenes that inspire him.Thom has been a member of the Brown County Art Guild since 2011.

Hattie Stanton was born in the coal mining region of the Southeastern hills of Kentucky in 1937. She moved to Richmond, Indiana in 1953 and graduated from B.S.U. with a B.S. in art and English and a Masters in German. She now lives in Muncie, Indiana. Hattie began painting in 1995 and is one of the painters included in the book Hoosier Painters of the 21st Century by Mark Butterfield. Hattie has been a member of the Brown County Art Guild since 2006.

Located in the heart of Nashville, the Brown County Art Guild is open Tuesday-Saturday from 11-5 and Sunday 12-4. A reception for the artists will be held on Saturday, June 11, from 5-8 p.m. Pianist Cheryl Kaldahl will perform. For more information, call 812.988.618 or visit www.browncountyartguild.org

07:30 pm to 10:00 pm
Indiana University | Wells-Metz Theatre
http://www.indiana.edu/~thtr/productions/IUST2016/kingscritique.shtml

The King’s Critique is a bawdy new musical that presents a storybook world, in which the king appoints himself head theater critic of his entire empire. This playful comedy finds unlikely allies amongst the performers, banding together to fight this despotic bullying and bring laughter to the kingdom.

IU Summer Theatre’s “Premiere Musical” proudly celebrates new voices in musical theater.

Performances run June 8, 9, 10, and 11 at 7:30pm.
