May Exhibits at the Ivy Tech Waldron

New exhibits at the Ivy Tech John Waldron Arts Center for the month of May include work by Ben Pines, Yang Chen, Angela Hendrix-Petry, and Nate Johnson.

Figure studies by painter Ben Pines meditate on the state of relationships in our modern world; photographer Yang Chen elevates the tiniest details of spring to highlight their effervescent and ephemeral beauty; Angela Hendrix-Petry’s work is described as “An offering in celebration of an ordinary life lived with eyes and heart wide open”; Nate Johnson pays tribute to the musical and cultural figures who inspire and move him.

The exhibit will be open for viewing during regular gallery hours until May 27.

Indiana University will conduct its fourth Electronic Waste Collection Days on May 11 and 12, giving individuals, schools, nonprofit organizations and businesses an opportunity for free and environmentally responsible disposal of obsolete computers and other electronic items.

At IU Bloomington, equipment that is in working order will be donated to Serve IT, a community information technology clinic at the IU School of Informatics and Computing. This includes equipment that can be refurbished and placed in a nonprofit organization, such as computers, monitors, mice, keyboards, routers, switches and cabling.

Exhibit: The Art of Daniel Lager at The Venue

Beginning Friday, May 4th, at 6:00 pm, The Venue will host a new exhibit of the works of Daniel Lager. A Venue favorite, Dan’s paintings, in enamel and on the reverse side of glass, are “bright, whimsical, and a joy for the eye.” With growing national recognition, you will be pleased and rewarded by adding a Lager to your collection.

Refreshments will be provided by The Venue and our complete collection of Fine Art and Gifts will also be on display for viewing and purchase. Parking is available in the lot on the corner of 4th and Grant.

This show will run during regular hours at The Venue until May 17th.

Parent’s Day Out at the YMCA

On Parent’s Day Out, parents can bring their kids to the YMCA’s Play ’n Learn Center while they have a date, run errands, or catch up with friends. Kids will meet in the Play ‘n Learn Center, where the YMCA will have planned activities and movement based games with the children while parents enjoy their time out.

Bring a sack lunch or dinner and a drink, a blanket and/or pillow, and a comfort toy. Due to the allergies of some children, please do not send peanut or dairy items in lunches or dinners. Make sure you put your name on EVERYTHING!
