Written by

Southern Indiana Rotary clubs are accepting applications for a $40,000 Rotary District Global Grant Scholarship that will enable a southern Indiana scholar to study for one to four years in a graduate program at any qualified university outside North America.

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Maintain a residence in Southern Indiana or attend classes at a university in Rotary District 6580 (a list is available at rotary6580.org).
  • Present a plan of graduate study and a career commitment that align with one of Rotary’s six areas of focus: peace and conflict prevention/resolution, disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, basic education and literacy; and economic and community development.
  • Be endorsed by a Rotary Club in District 6580.
  • Provide a letter of acceptance or a letter of affiliation from the university where the scholar’s study will take place. Applications may be submitted before an applicant receives an acceptance letter.

In the past three years, the Southern Indiana Rotary District has awarded $120,000 in global scholarships. Recent recipients include Aubrey Seader, of Bloomington, who earned a master’s degree in arts and cultural management at King’s College London; Alexandra Starry, of Bloomington, who earned a master’s degree in public policy from Hertie School of Governance in Berlin; and Clarice Cross, of Brownsburg, who is pursuing a master’s degree in community economic development at Waseda University in Tokyo.
