Rev. Butler Park on West 9th Street was the setting for Bloomington’s Juneteenth Celebration on Friday, June 19. The event was sponsored by Black Lives Matter B-town, which provided free food for registered participants. Priority admission was given to people of color.

Entertainment was provided by poets, drag performers, musicians, drummers, and DJs. Social distancing was required, as were protective facemasks. A booth was set up at the entry to provide masks and hand sanitizer.

The event also included a first aid training session to teach attendees what to do in the event that a protest turns violent.
