Connection of Suicide Prevention at The Venue

05:30 pm to 07:00 pm
The Venue Fine Art & Gifts

September is National Suicide Prevention Month, part of our nations effort to stem the epidemic of suicide sweeping the country. In observance, on Tuesday, September 12th, at 5:30, The Venue will host a presentation by Michelle Martin-Colman and Beth Lodge-Rigal, on how to use art to establish a caring connection, the suicide antidote.
It is well documented that isolation can lead to despair and despair to suicide. In their presentation Michelle and Beth, through the process of creating college thank-you notes, and informed discussion, will demonstrate how a simple connecting note, from an informed friend, can save a life.
Bring your note making supplies and your caring personality, and together we will do great things.

Jenn Cristy, Joel Weir &Tim O’Malley – TONIGHT! – The Bloomington Songwriter Showcase

08:00 pm to 10:00 pm
Bears Place - 1316 East 3rd St., Bloomington IN 47401
http://www.facebook.com/BloomingtonSongwriters

It’s been a while since Bloomington’s Rocker Girl – Jenn Cristy (www.jenncristy.com) has performed as a Feature Writer at the Bloomington Songwriter Showcase! TONIGHT we are pleased to have her back on our stage ; -) Jenn’s been busy with producing and promoting her new CD ‘between you & me’. She’s spending a pretty good amount of time in NYC, but Bloomington is home base and her friends and family welcome her back on the Showcase stage this evening.
Joel Weir is from the Crawfordsville IN area who has an alias ‘John the Silent’ (http://johnthesilent.com/) . Joel’s music is as interesting as he is – and that is very interesting. This young man often presents Inspirational influenced, Rock, and Americana music reflecting his own life as a Reverend Father, and a caring human being. Thank you Brandon Pfeiffer -for introducing Joel to us. Also on this evenings talent lineup is our friend Tim O’Malley (www.timbloos.com). Tim is a soft-spoken guy who you just have to love. Even before he strums a chord on his guitar – you just have to like this guy. O’Malley has performed in just about every Blues band in the area, as lead guitar player. He’s been writing songs for a long time, has won a Songwriting competition or two, but only in the past decade has he began to play his own songs publically. By doing so, O’Malley has discovered a large following for his style, his stories and his songs.
Tonight we have our Open Guest Chair too!! Sign up early to insure a spot to play YOUR favorite original song. You can do that at [email protected] OR come in early and sing up. Open Guest Spots are limited to 5, so first come first serve!
Don’t forget! The Bloomington Songwriter Showcase is FREE!
Must be 21+ to enter Bears Place BACK ROOM
Doors open at 7pm – Show time is 8-10pm
