Panache Dance Studio 325 E. Winslow Rd.

Gum Boot Dance Workshop
Taught by Ellyn Barham
Saturday, Feb. 23 from 1-3 pm

A predecessor to Step, Gum Boot dancing originated in the 1850s during the apartheid miners were chained together and since the owners of the mines did not want to pay to have the mines drained of water, they made the miners wear “gum boots” (also known as Wellington boots). The miners would use this form of dancing to communicate to each other. Come out and learn how to to do this vibrant and exciting style!

Cost: $25 / $20 students
