Heather Hewett will discuss her research on feminist food studies and the ways in which food becomes a tool for inclusion or exclusion towards those with food allergies.

Heather Hewett is an Associate Professor of English and Women’s, Gender, & Sexuality Studies at SUNY New Paltz. Her recent projects have focused on feminist mothering, disability studies, and food studies with particular focus on food allergies. She has also written essays for the public in prominent venues including The New York Times, CNN.com, and Ms. Magazine. Dr. Hewett earned her PhD in English Literature (with a Certificate in African Studies) from University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2001.
