Brian Baumann, who received his PhD from Indiana University in Central Eurasian Studies, will discuss basic principles of celestial orientation and use ideas from this traditional form of navigation to illustrate a new interpretation of Francesco Solimena’s Allegory of the Four Parts of the World.
