The Breeze Bends the Grass

07:30 pm to 09:15 pm on May 26
Brown County Playhouse
http://www.browncountyplayhouse.org

A captivating musical window into the lives, choices and varied artwork of four early 20th century Indiana women artists – Marie Goth, Janet Payne Bowles, the Overbeck Sisters, and Selma Steele. Highly entertaining and inspiring, this show aims to not only illuminate the achievements of these amazing women, but also the conditions in which they struggled to hone their techniques and offer the results of their labor to the world.

The theme of the production is inextricably woven through Nashville’s history and emphasizes the importance of these women artists to the foundation of the “Art Colony of the Midwest.” It elevates and illuminates Nashville’s founding women artists to historical relevance and influence in the world of art and the changing world around them at the turn of the 20th century. The combination of music and the beautiful backdrop of photos and artwork are stunning both audibly and visually..Written by Arbutus Cunningham with Krista Detor, and featuring award-winning Indiana performers.

Cost: $18, $15
