Sobremesa Farm, one of the locations on the Monroe County Barn Tour, is pleased to announce their special offerings to tour goers. In addition to making available fresh produce for sale through a vegetable market at the site, the farm will also host a few local artists and musicians.
One of those who will be exhibiting their artwork will be nature photographer, Jeff Danielson. As Danielson’s bio reads, “He grew up in both Britain and the U.S and ended up in Bloomington, IN, after working on a doctorate here in classical archeology. Branching out a bit he started the first gourmet coffee roaster in the midwest which grew into a bakery and restaurant known as the Runcible Spoon. After 25 years of that he got bored and sold the business (which is still thriving) and accidentally began doing nature photography. This has since become an addiction. He doesn’t do the art fair circuit but his work can be purchased at Spears Gallery in Nashville, IN, and thru his pages on Facebook – Jeff Danielson’s browncountyphoto and ‘Jeff Danielson’. This year he did a talk for the DNR on eagle photography and the DNR uses his work extensively to promote Monroe Lake. The natural side of this area is his chief concern.”
Musical entertainment will be provided during the day by Upfolk, a Bloomington-based acoustic trio (plus friends) that plays gently rousing mid-west folk songs from the past and present. Members Travis Puntarelli, Ben Handel, and Aaron Comforty comprise the rhythm section, and they “sing songs about animals, babies, and gettin’ out and doin’ stuff.” The band has two studio albums that are available through their website, www.whatupfolk.com.
The Monroe County Barn Tour will be a self-guided tour to benefit the Indiana Barn Foundation. Nine locations throughout the county will be included during the tour. For more information and tickets, visit the Foundation website at www.indianabarns.org
