Charlene Marsh: Plein Air Painting Demo and Workshop

12:00 pm to 03:00 pm
Paynetown State Recreation Area
http://stateparks.in.gov/2954.htm

Charlene Marsh, a plein air oil painter, will host a demonstration and public painting opportunity at Paynetown State Recreation Area on Saturday, July 21.

The public is invited to stop by the swimming beach area to watch her paint from 12 to 1:30 p.m. After the demo concludes, Marsh will supply materials and instruction for visitors to complete their own plein air painting between 1:30 and 3 p.m.

Based in Brown County, Charlene Marsh’s artwork now hangs in thousands of private, corporate, and museum collections throughout the world and has won numerous awards. She has taught art to all ages, given painting demonstrations, and served as a guest artist and artist in residence at local art centers, state institutions, and in the public schools.

To complement the afternoon demo and workshop, a naturalist will offer gyotaku fish printing at the campground playground that same day from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Gyotaku is a traditional art form used by Japanese anglers to create a record of their catch. Instead of using real fish, participants will create their painted prints from realistic fish models. People can bring their own cotton clothing items to print on, or use a provided fabric square.

Questions should be directed to the Paynetown Activity Center at 812-837-9967 or [email protected].

Paynetown SRA is located at 4850 S. State Road 446, Bloomington. The Property Entrance Fee is $7 per vehicle with Indiana license plates, or $9 per vehicle with out-of-state plates. Annual Entrance Permits are also available for sale at the gatehouse.
