7th annual Indiana State Fingerstyle Guitar Festival Daytime Competition

11:00 am
Brown County Playhouse
http://[email protected]

The Indiana State Fingerstyle Guitar Competition, started in 2012, takes place in Nashville, Indiana. The event brings 30+ of the finest fingerstyle guitar players in the United States to the Brown County Playhouse to compete for the grand prize – a prized guitar built by Indiana guitar builder Tom Roeger, the opportunity to play in the evening concert, and bragging rights of being the winner of the Annual Competition.

Fingerstyle guitar is the technique of playing the guitar by plucking the strings directly with fingertips, fingernails or picks attached to the right hand fingers. The term is often used synonymously with fingerpicking, classical, or thumb style. Prominent fingerstyle players include Chet Atkins, Merle Travis, Tommy Emmanuel, and Andres Segovia. Visit our website for complete details.

The Competition daytime ticket includes the competition beginning at 11 am until 4 pm. You will receive a wristband so that you can come and go throughout the day.

Evening concert tickets sold separately | Concert only: $22.50 | VIP Ticket: $32.50 includes reserved seating in middle front section and $40 Playhouse gift certificate.

The documentary – Acoustic Uprising will be shown after the competition and is included in the price of any ticket. The documentary features interviews with internationally renowned artists like Tommy Emmanuel, Kaki King, Newton Faulkner and Andy Mckee – Acoustic Uprising profiles the world of Acoustic FingerStyle Guitar, a new frontier of innovation in the Guitar realm. Guitarists not connected by a style or genre but by an attitude. Theirs is an approach that throws away the dogma of the past to push beyond the boundaries. Through a long process of discovery and a deep bond with their instrument, these artists perform feats of “astounding virtuosity”…and it’s all done alone.
