Who’s ready for some shortcake? What has become a Bloomington tradition for the past 30 years, The Strawberry Shortcake Festival is Thursday, May 5, from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm on the Monroe County Courthouse Lawn. For $5, enjoy homemade cake, topped with strawberries, Bruster’s vanilla ice cream, and whipped topping. Money raised goes to the Bloomington Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs. This is the 30th anniversary of the Strawberry Festival, which means this year’s celebration will be extra special. Rain location is Fountain Square Mall.

Can’t make it to the Strawberry Festival? You can still enjoy a delicious strawberry shortcake by ordering an assembly kit. Money raised goes to the Bloomington Boys’ and Girls’ Club. Kits go on sale starting March 21 and you can order by visiting www.bgcbloomington.org, or by emailing Stacey Hawkins at [email protected]. Make your order by April 21!

Take a break from studying and work with a relaxing evening at the MMWC. Play some board and card games, and do some crafts like mandala coloring and finger knitting, to soothe away the stress. The event is free and open to the public.

Free visitor parking is available by the Indiana Avenue lobby entrance. Metered parking is available at the McCalla School parking lot on the corner of Ninth Street and Indiana Avenue. The parking lot also has spaces designated for Indiana University C and ST permits. During the weekends free parking is available on the surrounding streets. An access ramp is located at the Fess Avenue entrance, on the corner of Ninth Street and Fess Avenue. Reserved parking spaces are available on Ninth Street, between Fess Avenue and Indiana Avenue.
